Vehicle Description

What We Did Before Export Every vehicle we sell goes through a full service at our facility in Japan before it ships. We inspect each one ourselves, address what needs to be addressed, and put real kilometers on it after service to confirm everything works. Here is what was done on this one: Engine oil and all filters replaced (engine air, cabin air, oil, fuel) New spark plugs installed Timing belt replaced in Japan at 92,355 km in late 2025 New alternator and A/C belts installed New battery installed New Yokohama 155/65R14 tires mounted on ZACK JP-209 Monza Japan rims All fluids replaced Full interior disassembly and detail. Looks, smells, and feels like new Full exterior polish and detail Driven and verified after service The body is rust free. The engine is dry with no leaks. This truck was driven and verified by our team before being listed for sale. The Subaru Sambar is the only kei truck ever built with a four-cylinder engine. Every other competitor in the class runs a three-cylinder. The EN07V is smooth, refined, and unusually quiet at highway speeds for a kei truck, which is something the three-cylinder competition simply cannot match. Paired with a 5-speed manual, extra low gear, and selectable 4WD, this truck handles everything from highway cruising to rough trails without complaint. This is the TB grade, the better-equipped Sambar trim, with power steering, ABS, a driver airbag, A/C, and an original vinyl leather interior. The cab is genuinely spacious for the class. Even at 6’5″ you will fit comfortably, which is not something you can say about most kei vehicles. The condition of this truck is exceptional. The Japanese registration was valid through December 2025, which means it passed Japan’s shaken inspection recently and was actively on the road. In Japan, every registered vehicle must pass a rigorous government roadworthiness test at regular intervals to stay legal. This is not a truck that sat in a field. When we detail a vehicle, we do it properly. On this Sambar we disassembled the entire interior before cleaning it. The result is a truck that looks like new, smells like new, and feels like new from the moment you sit in it. Mileage: 92,686 km (57,602 miles). Fuel economy: approximately 28 – 35 MPG in mixed driving conditions based on real-world EN07V data. Interesting Facts The Subaru Sambar is the only kei truck ever produced with a four-cylinder engine. Subaru used this layout from the very beginning and stayed with it until they stopped building kei vehicles in 2012. Japan’s shaken inspection system is one of the strictest vehicle roadworthiness programs in the world. A vehicle must pass detailed safety and emissions checks every two years to stay registered. A truck with a current shaken has been maintained and verified. The extra low gear on the Sambar TB gives the truck a crawl ratio that lets it handle steep grades and rough terrain at very low speeds without slipping the clutch. It is a feature that most light trucks twice its size do not have. Subaru built the Sambar truck from 1961 until 2012, making it one of the longest-running kei truck nameplates in Japanese automotive history. After 2012, the Sambar name continued on a rebadged Daihatsu Hijet. The Sambar was never officially sold in the United States. At 25 years old, this example now qualifies for legal import under the federal 25-year exemption rule. Long before opening our location in the United States, our team was importing and servicing these vehicles in Europe when many of them were still new. Because of that experience, we know these platforms extremely well. Every model has its own weak points, and we inspect and address them before the vehicle is offered for sale. All vehicles are serviced at our facility in Japan before shipping. Fluids, belts, filters, batteries, and common failure points are inspected and replaced when necessary. Unlike many dealerships, we actually drive our vehicles. They don’t sit in a parking lot. Our trucks and cars are used regularly so we can verify reliability before they reach their new owner. When you buy from us, you’re getting a vehicle that is fully prepared and ready to drive from day one. JP-TRADE is our first location in the United States, supported by a team of more than 40 people across Europe, Japan, Korea, China, and the U.S. If you made it this far, here is a little bonus for you. Why does the Sambar have four cylinders when every other kei truck has three? When Subaru designed the EN-series engine for their kei vehicles, they made a deliberate choice to go with four cylinders instead of three. Their reasoning was simple: a four-cylinder runs smoother, vibrates less, and lasts longer under sustained load. Every other manufacturer in the kei segment decided three cylinders were enough. Subaru disagreed, built their own engine family, and stuck with it for over two decades. When they finally stopped producing kei vehicles in 2012 and handed the Sambar name to Daihatsu, the four-cylinder EN engine went with them. The rebadged Sambar that replaced it has a three-cylinder. It has never been the same.
