ETA TO LINCOLNTON: FALL 2026
If you're looking for a genuinely useful JDM import rather than another car that only comes out on weekends, this 2001 Toyota Estima T G makes a very strong case for itself.
The second-generation Estima combined Toyota's distinctive one-motion minivan styling with a much more conventional and service-friendly front-engine platform. This example is the desirable G trim, powered by Toyota's 2AZ-FE 2.4-liter DOHC VVT-i four-cylinder, paired with an automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.
And the mileage is a major highlight: only 53,956 km / 33,723 miles.
Toyota rated the 2.4-liter 2AZ-FE Estima at 160 PS, and the same engine family was also used in contemporary Toyota models such as the Camry and Kluger. That makes this much less intimidating to own in the U.S. than many obscure Japan-only drivetrains.
This is also not a stripped-down commercial van. The G trim gives the Estima a noticeably more upscale character, with wood-grain interior trim, a wood/leather-style steering wheel, automatic climate control, factory sunroof, comfortable three-row seating, and room for eight passengers.

Toyota introduced this generation of Estima in 2000 and made a major engineering departure from the unusual mid-engine layout of the original. The new model moved to a conventional front-engine configuration, adopted the 2.4-liter 2AZ-FE and 3.0-liter V6, lowered the floor for additional cabin space, and fitted sliding doors on both sides. Toyota offered both seven- and eight-passenger layouts.
That packaging is exactly what makes the ACR30 Estima so useful today.
The cabin feels far more spacious than the exterior dimensions suggest. Three rows give you room for family and friends, while the sliding doors make getting in and out dramatically easier in parking lots and garages. If you don't need all eight seats occupied, the rear seating arrangement gives you plenty of flexibility for luggage, road trips, event equipment, or daily hauling.
The G interior is one of the best parts of this example. Instead of the utilitarian atmosphere found in many older vans, you get extensive wood-look trim across the dashboard and center stack, a matching wood-accent steering wheel, soft gray seating, automatic climate controls, factory navigation hardware, and a large glass sunroof that makes the cabin feel even more open.
Outside, the Pearl White body, dark privacy glass, factory aero treatment, rear spoiler, and aftermarket alloy wheels give it a much sharper appearance than the typical early-2000s minivan. It still looks unmistakably Japanese-market, which is a large part of the appeal.
The ACR30 generation also has a very practical footprint. Toyota lists the second-generation Estima at approximately 4,750 mm long, 1,790 mm wide, and 1,770 mm tall with a 2,900 mm wheelbase, so it offers substantial interior room without becoming a full-size van.
For a buyer considering a Toyota Sienna, Previa, Alphard, Odyssey, or another imported people mover, this Estima offers something different: very low mileage, eight seats, Toyota mechanicals, dual sliding doors, upscale G-trim equipment, and unmistakable JDM styling.
At roughly 33,723 miles, examples like this are becoming increasingly difficult to find.
