1999 Toyota Crown Estate Athlete – Wagon, 1JZ-GE, Automatic, Project Car The 1999 Toyota Crown Estate Athlete is one of the most unique wagons Toyota ever produced. Combining the comfort and prestige of the Crown platform with the practicality of a long-roof wagon body, these cars have become increasingly rare on the road today. This particular Crown Estate Athlete was originally planned as one of our in-house projects. However, with more than ten vehicles currently being built and restored in our shop, we simply do not have the time to give this car the attention it deserves. Because of that, we are offering it for sale as a project at our cost. Mechanically the car is in very good condition and has been fully serviced. The engine runs smoothly, the transmission shifts properly, and the vehicle drives well. Service includes replacement of belts, battery, spark plugs, gaskets, fluids, and filters. The air conditioning system has been checked and works properly. Timing Belt was replaced! The interior is one of the highlights of this car. The cabin is in excellent condition and features a beautiful deep brown / burgundy interior color combination that gives the car a very unique and premium look. The Crown Estate is extremely practical as well. The rear seats fold completely flat, creating a large cargo area similar to modern SUVs. The trunk also features a cargo cover and adjustable cargo nets that can be positioned to secure luggage, tools, or even pets while driving. The tailgate features a soft-close system that gently pulls the hatch shut when closing. Cosmetically the car does have a few imperfections. There are several small dents visible on the rear left door and quarter panel, and the paint on the hood and front fenders has begun to peel in certain areas. These cosmetic issues make the car a perfect candidate for someone planning a repaint or custom project build. The vehicle has 138,268 km (85,900 miles) and has been road tested by our team to confirm that everything functions properly.
