Description

1997 Nissan Skyline GTR – 500R

Nissan Skyline R33 GTR UK Nissan Middlehurst car: One of only five cars that Nissan Middlehurst upgraded to the 500R package.

Finished in AR1 Super Clear Red 2 from the factory, this is a very rare color—ONLY 162 were made in this color, which is less than 1% of GTRs manufactured in this color, as you can see in the GTR production numbers chart.

This is a series three car, so it came with the later-style red stitch interior, Xenon headlamps, which look amazing, a deeper front spoiler, a newer-style steering wheel, N1 ducts in the front bumper, anti-UV coating on glass, additional bracing in the rear trunk to improve rigidity, and a few other tweaks.

This car was 1 of JDM 20 cars purchased from Nismo Japan by Nissan Middlehurst who were the sole supplier of the GTR models in the UK It was then converted to UK specification by them, changes such as the speedometer in MPH, extra oil coolers, and adjusting for the UK fuelling were few of the changes made to the car.  Owners were also given a choice of upgrade packages by Nissan Middlehurst, with the top one being the 500R packages, which upped the power up to 500bhp!  The 500R package consisted of uprated brakes, HKS turbos, HKS cams, HKS oil coolers, HKS injectors, a Torque split controller fitted in the center console, and an HKS short shift gear change.

This was one of only five cars to be upgraded to the 500R package by Nissan then. There is paperwork to prove this bit of history, and the previous owner contacted Andy Middlehurst, the owner/ Managing director of Nissan Middlehurst. Andy verified all the paperwork and confirmed the car's history. After the success of these 20 cars, Nissan decided to bring in a further 100 official cars a year later, in 1998, with longer 17-digit VIN numbers.

Over the years, the GTR has been further improved and kept up to date as more modern performance parts became available, notably a Link G4 + Ecu, which is one of the best ECUs on the market and completely transforms the way the car drives, power delivery is silky smooth and even gives improved fuel economy.  Further upgrades included a set of K sport 8-pot brakes up front, replacing the old 6-pot brakes and a more recent version of the Kakimoto exhaust system. The turbos were also refreshed in 2021. A Nismo clutch is also fitted to handle the additional power.

This R33 is in superb condition inside and out. The panel gaps are excellent, and the car has never been involved in any collision. The AR1 Super Clear red paint gleams in the sunlight and is in excellent condition. There are no deep scratches or signs of corrosion. The car is on a clean and clear US title that can easily be transferred anywhere in the country.

The car is located at our shop in St. Louis, MO, and can be viewed by appointment only during our normal business hours.
